Charlene, a speech and language specialist from RISE, presented a workshop to parents, demonstrating how phonological awareness can be developed. There were suggestions on how to help children segment and blend syllables and phonemes (individual sounds) when listening, reading and spelling. The session concluded with an opportunity for parents to try some fun activities which could easily be replicated at home, or even in the car on longer journeys.
