P7 acts of kindness: Mental Health Week 2020

22nd May 2020

The theme for Mental Health Week 2020 was Kindness and the P7 class were busy sending photos through of their kindness acts with some getting involved in the Virtual Purple Picnic. Thank you for the photos and sending these moments on. It isn't always about photos or getting praise all the time as being kind is an act which stays warmly in your heart and makes you feel better. Be kind to everyone- what a great trait and learning value to take with you through your life.

In P7, being kind meant cutting the lawn, sharing moments with friends, lighting a candle for those in need or sick, appreciating teachers and people who help us and small moments to make people smile.

It also means showing good manners, respect for everyone and actions such as holding a door for someone or saying hello to a person you know. These values will never leave society and are as important as before.

Some also made lovely letters, acrostic poems and references to our class which was really thoughtful.

One P7 pupil pointed out that we need to be kind to ourselves and I thought this was an excellent thought. We all can be our harshest critics and think more negatively about ourselves. It is important that we look at our positives, take time out for ourselves and use positive self talk. Be kind to others however make sure to be kind to yourself. This is even more important now and we all know that parents, guardians, children and staff are working really hard.

Remember: small acts make big moments!

Being kind to someone who is going through a bad day could give them a great lift, always treat every day as a kindness day as you don't know what anyone is going through.
