Daily Mile 10th Anniversary
St Mary’s PS have been committed to the ‘Daily Mile’ since the early days. This is an inclusive to all initiative which gets pupils out of their classroom for 15mins to jog, run, wheel or walk at their own pace. Whilst making children fitter and healthier, it also has huge social and emotional benefits too. On 28th April all pupils in St Mary’s took part in a global mass participation event to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Daily Mile and promote the initiative with other schools. While the Daily Mile has been part of school life for some time, the full benefit has truly emerged in the past couple of years. Pupils’ emotional health and well-being have become a priority, as we learn more and more about how young brains work. In St Mary’s PS all staff have completed WSNA Level 3 Nurture training and indeed nurture is at the centre of our ethos. Learning leads to happiness and happiness leads to learning! The Daily Mile is one important aspect of this, so we have lots of reasons to celebrate this wonderful initiative!
