Chinese New Year 2024
We enjoyed learning about the Year of the Dragon from Phoebe, our Mandarin tutor. The children entered a poster competition organised by the Confucius Institute and many of our pupils, pictured here, were commended for their excellent designs.
Phoebe also brought some of her fellow tutors to the school. They performed elements of the Chinese Opera for all the whole school, including the Handershief and Mask dances. Some pupils were lucky to be selected to join in the performance. Afterwards the P4-7 pupils enjoyed workshops, where they were taught how to create traditional Chinese origami dragons and masks. This is great opportunity to learn about another culture, as part of our global awareness education which prepares the children for future careers and experiences in the 21st Century.
