Art Exhibition
St Mary’s PS Newtownbutler is recognised for its strong Catholic Ethos, which is encapsulated not least through the celebration of the children's talents and achievements. This is most impactful when done through the close home -school partnership which has been established over many years.
Most recently parents, grandparents, other relatives, friends and the wider community were invited to a fabulous art exhibition of the pupils’ work. Visitors enjoyed some drinks and nibbles as they perused the range of art on display, which included samples from every child in the school. A range of styles and tools were used by the pupils, to create 3D animals and characters, posters, collage, landscapes, Celtic designs, self portraits and topic based pieces. The children used a variety of tools including pastels, paint, print and digital skills, such as animation and audio. Some of the work was based around the theme of 'Addressing Bullying', showcasing pupil designed posters and work produced during art therapy workshops. Pupils also demonstrated their musical talent, providing some background music on a variety of instruments including the piano, violin, harp, bodhran, guitar, tine whistle and concertina. The school's vision, 'Be Kind, Be Curious, Belong' was evident in the work on display and the warm, jovial atmosphere as children and adults celebrated together. A special thank-you to the volunteers form the Friends of St Mary's who welcomed our guests and provided refreshments.
